How can I connect the monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. with my computer?

If you are the proud owner of a laptop, you do not have to prepare to make your PC operational. Conversely, if you have bought a desktop/tower PC, you need to follow a few steps before you can use it.

  • Your monitor must be connected to the main unit (your computer) as well as an external power source.
  • The keyboard and mouse must be connected to the main unit.
  • Although printers are not an essential part of your computer, most people own one. So, if you have a USB printer, you must plug it into your main unit. If it is a network printer, connect it to your home switch/router. Remember that printers also need power from an external source.
  • The main unit needs electric power too, so do not forget to use its power cord.
  • Additionally, you might have speakers and/or a microphone. These must be plugged into their respective color-coded ports in the main unit. Speakers might need an external power source.
