Video Editing Software

Using this type of software, you can make your own customized movies or holiday videos. Many choices are available in this regard, both free and paid. OpenShot, VSDC, and VideoPad (for home use only) are some of the free ones, while Adobe Premiere Pro, Cyberlink PowerDirector and Pinnacle Studio are few of the paid ones.

Sound Editing Software

When you need to add effects to a sound recording, just delete something or perhaps put a recording together, a sound editing software can be highly useful. Some very good free choices are Audacity, Ashampoo Music Studio and WavePad (for home use only).

Tools and Utilities

CCleaner: It’s an exceptional registry cleaner and PC maintenance tool, which has both free and commercial editions—a must-have for your computer.

Adobe Acrobat Reader: This famous PDF reader supports every kind of feature in the specific file format, such as forms and multimedia. A good alternative is Foxit Reader. Both these apps are free.

Filezilla: It’s a free FTP client for Windows. If you need to upload or download files via FTP protocol (for instance, to and from your personal website), this is the right program for you.

7-Zip: If you need to compress (or extract) files to reduce their size, 7-Zip is a great choice, and it’s absolutely free. PeaZip is also a very good alternative.

VLC Media Player: It’s an excellent player for video or audio files, which supports a great variety of formats. If a file can’t be played in VLC, most probably it doesn’t work at all.

Mozilla Thunderbird: If you’ve one or more email accounts, this application allows you to manage them easily and efficiently. With the add-on “Lightning”, you can have a fully featured calendar alongside your email.

Notepad++: It’s a free text editor and source code editor (if you’re a programmer). It has numerous functions and is far better than “Notepad”, the native application of Windows.

Millions of applications are available in this regard, but the ones I mentioned throughout this article can fulfill the needs of most users. Choose your preferred ones and install them.

There’s one last thing I’d like to comment on, i.e., safety of your data and system. You can read my article on cyber security for beginners by clicking here.

I hope my two-part article was helpful for you.
